Family trip to the fallow deer enclosure in the Perlacher Forst

A wonderful destination for family outings and bike tours around Munich is the Wörnbrunn fallow deer enclosure near Grünwald. An easy and beautiful tour that leads south through the Perlach Forest. Through dense forests and past lush green meadows, you reach the fallow deer enclosure. Cute deer and stately stags graze peacefully and carefree on the wide meadows. Children of all ages enjoy experiencing the sweet fawns up close. This is fun for the whole family! Afterwards, it's time to hop back on your bike and head for a refreshment in our Restaurant and beer garden Waldgasthof Buchenhain – a trip in the fresh air makes you hungry!

Culture and nature on the Isarauen tour

The focus of this tip isn't on sport, but on nature and the magnificent views. This relaxed and not-too-difficult bike tour around Munich combines exercise and culture along the Isar Cycle Path along the Isar River meadows. The route winds and undulates south out of Munich. Anyone traveling here should definitely stop at Schäftlarn Monastery, because here you'll see and be amazed. The monastery is one of Bavaria's original monasteries and has been the only active monastery in the Munich district for more than 1.200 years. It is also one of Upper Bavaria's most important cultural monuments. There's much to discover on a stroll through the monastery grounds: the monastery building, built by Munich's court architect Antonio Viscardi, the monastery church in its unique Rococo style, and the beautifully landscaped Prelate's Garden with its splendid floral display. A true experience!
After so much culture, a well-deserved stop at our Waldgasthof is just what you need. Simply drive back along the Isar River towards Munich to Buchenhain. Our Munich South Inn and Restaurant offers shady spots and a wide selection of snacks. Just the thing after such a tour or for your relaxing short break in Munich.

Pure action on the Isar trails

For those looking for a bit more action on their bike tour around Munich, the Isar Trails are perfect – although we would like to warn you in advance: This tour is not for the faint-hearted. The start is at the Zoo Bridge in Munich and initially takes a relaxed route along the Isar River towards Schäftlarn Monastery. Just before the Grosshesseloher Bridge, simply turn into the forest and you'll find yourself on part of the Isar Trails. Here you can experiment with the narrow paths through the forest, over hill and dale, undulating up and down. There are always opportunities to leave the Isar Trail and return to the Isar Cycle Path if the going gets too much for you. To get to us at the Waldgasthof Buchenhain, take the Isar Cycle Path after the Grünwalder Bridge. This is the direct route to our beer garden! Here you can take a well-deserved rest in the early autumn temperatures with Bavarian delicacies and the right thirst quencher. The return journey can be made on the other side of the Isar River, where there are even more kilometers of Isar Trails. For those who haven't had enough adrenaline yet or who have had enough refreshments with us.
