THE ISAR – THE RECREATIONAL AREA IN MUNICH

It flows through the whole of Munich and is both a dividing obstacle and a connecting cultural asset: the Isar. Originating in the Karwendel Mountains, it crosses the urban area of Munich from southwest to northeast in about 14 kilometres until it finally flows into the Danube near Deggendorf. The people of Munich love their Isar. As a meeting place in summer for swimming and relaxing, for cycling and walking along the river or for exciting boat trips. It offers a piece of nature in the middle of the city and a place to relax and be active.

EVERYTHING ABOUT OUR HOTEL AT THE ISAR

Our hotel is located in the south of Munich on the banks of the Isar in a pleasantly quiet location surrounded by nature. A short distance behind our beer garden lies the picturesque mountain river and invites you to extensive walks, bicycle tours and raft trips. Nearby is also the well-known Georgenstein, a five-metre-high boulder in the riverbed of the Isar, which used to be considered a terror for all rafters.

Immediately next to our hotel at the Isarhochufer is the Forstenrieder Park, a large forest and nature reserve in which those seeking peace and quiet can enjoy the green nature and where a possible animal encounter awaits you: for example in the wild boar enclosure.

One of the most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria and an exciting destination for all climbing and bouldering fans is the Baierbrunn climbing garden, directly behind the Gasthof München. Here, ambitious boulderers will find a small climbing paradise in natural surroundings. The high rope course in Grünwald offers fun for the whole family.

Our staff at reception can tell you about other great excursion destinations in the vicinity.

We look forward to your visit and stay!
