HONORARY AWARD: THE HOFBRÄU TANKARD FOR THE WALDGASTHOF

We are as proud as punch! At the traditional tapping of the Maibock in Hofbräuhaus Munich Our owner couple Stefan Kastner and Rina were presented with the Drijver of the Hofbräu-Humpen – an honorary prize that Hofbräu München awards once a year to special partners from the gastronomy and culture sectors.

And this year, the tankard went to Buchenhain. Why? Quite simply: for decades of commitment to Bavarian beer and pub culture, for genuine hospitality with heart – and for a place that demonstrates like no other how enjoyment, tradition, and joie de vivre go hand in hand.

A price that sets standards

The Hofbräu Tankard isn't just any old stein. Those who receive it represent exceptional quality, a spirit of partnership, and a genuine passion for Bavarian beer. The tankard was awarded during the festive Maibock tapping ceremony—with brass band music, strong beer, and a witty "O'zapft is!" (It's tapped!) in the Hofbräuhaus's Schwemme (swimming pool). And right in the center: Stefan Kastner and Rina den Drijver—honored for what defines the Waldgasthof Buchenhain: character, attitude, and a whole lot of passion.

Where the tankard is at home

If you'd like to admire the Hofbräu tankard up close, it's naturally been given a place of honor in our restaurant in southern Munich – right where the Hofbräu beer flows from the tap, the roast pork smells, and the large chestnuts rustle. So, just stop by, order a half-liter, and raise a glass – to Bavarian pub culture and the people who live it.
