We begin with culinary delights and arguably Germany's favorite spring vegetable: asparagus! Traditionally, this so-called noble vegetable is harvested starting in mid-April. To ensure a bountiful harvest next year, and because the plants need sufficient time to regenerate, the asparagus season ends on June 24th.
Until then, there are many different ways to enjoy the vegetable: crispy green asparagus in a salad, traditional white asparagus with potatoes and hollandaise sauce, or even purple asparagus in lemon vinaigrette.
